Tom Thabane is officially Lesotho's Prime Minister. Thousands of his supporters attended his inauguration on Friday at the Setsoto stadium in the capital Maseru. Lesotho''s outgoing 7-party coalition has conceded defeat, but alleges there were irregularities including voters registered after the closing date, and some who voted twice. Deputy Prime Minister Mothetjoa Metsing has appealed to SADC to assist the mountain kingdom with a forensic audit to determine the extent of the irregularities. He also appealed to SADC and the European Union to convince former Prime Minister Tom Thabane and his allies to agree to a government of National Unity like they proposed before elections for the benefit of constitutional reform. It's full of incredible mountains, and lots of rugged landscape. There's this wild freedom to the country that just grabbed me right away. But, Lesotho is also a challenge; especially as a photographer. There are so many amazing things to see and photograph in the country, but it's a bit of a challenge finding ways to properly photograph them. There's very little tourism infrastructure, and even the roads don't really have places that you can safely pull over to make photos. Still, there is this energy to Lesotho that I really love. The counting of constituencies in Lesotho has been completed. Lesotho went to the polls last Saturday. Of the 77 counted 47 were won by the main opposition leader, Thom Thabane. 26 constituencies went to Lesotho's Deputy Prime Minister Mothetjoa Metsing. The rest is shared amongst the remaining parties. Metsing has admitted they didn't perform as well as they had hoped in the elections. Thabane and 3 other leaders of his coalition partners won a majority 63 of 120 seats in the National Assembly.
